Hanuman Chaalisa is a devotional hymn dedicated to Lord Hanuman, a Hindu deity who is revered for his strength, courage, and devotion. It is composed in the Awadhi language, and is one of the most popular and widely recited prayers in Hinduism. The prayer consists of 40 verses or "chaalisa," and is believed to have been composed by the poet Tulsidas in the 16th century.

अपने गुरुदेव के चरणों की मिट्टी से अपने मन दर्पण को साफ़ करता हूँ, और अपने भक्तों को मनचाहा फल देने वाले भगवान रघुवीर के निर्मल यश का गान करता हूँ।
हे पवन-पुत्र (हनुमान), मुझ बुद्धिहीन उपासक का यह सुमिरन स्वीकार करें, और मुझे बल, बुद्धि, और विद्या देकर, मेरे दुखों और विकारों का नाश करें।
Meaning in English
I bow to the lotus feet of my Guru, says Tulsidas, and sing to the glory of Lord Rama, who fulfills the desires of his humble devotees.
O Lord of the Skies, Hanuman! I am a simpleton praying to your glory. Please, accept my invocations and grant me strength, knowledge, and intelligence, and protect me from pain and peccancy.

ज्ञान और गुणों के सागर, श्री हनुमान की जय हो, कपीश्वर (वानरों के स्वामी), जिनकी कीर्ति तीनों लोकों में है, उनकी जय हो।
जो राम दूत है, और जिनका बल अतुल्य है, अंजनी पुत्र, जिनका दूसरा नाम पवन-पुत्र है, उनकी जय हो।
जो महावीर है, साहसी है, जिन्हें बजरंग बली कहा जाता है, जिन का रंग सुनहरा और वस्त्र सुंदर हैं, जिन के कानों में कुंडल और बाल घुंघराले हैं, उनकी जय हो।

O Lord Hanuman, possessor of knowledge and virtue, I hail thee. O Lord of Apes, whose renown is unbounded across the three realms, I hail thee.
The one who is the herald of Lord Rama, the one whose valor is unmatched, the one who is the son of Anjani, and is also known as the son of Pawana (the god of Air and Speed), I hail thee.
The one who is strong in body and mind, who is known as Bajrang Bali, whose form is golden, and clothes beautiful, who wears Kundalas in his ears, and has curly hair, I hail thee.

The one who is knowledgeable, virtuous, and sharp-witted, who is always eager to follow Lord Rama's commandments. Who enjoys the diction of Rama's stories and forever holds, Lord Rama, Sita, and Lakshman, in his heart.

जिन्होंने सूक्ष्म रूप धारण कर सीता जी को अपने राम-दूत होने का विश्वास दिलाया, और विकट रूप धारण कर रावण की लंका को जलाया। जिन के विकराल रूप ने असुरों का संहार किया, और रामचंद्र जी के कार्य सफल करवाये।
जिन्होंने संजीवनी बूटी लाकर लक्ष्मण को जिलाया, जिन को हर्षित हो कर प्रभु राम ने हृदय से लगाया। जिन की प्रशंसा करते हुए श्री राम ने उन्हें, अपना भरत समान प्रिय भाई बताया।

The one who assumed a diminutive form at the behest of Sita, to make her believe that he is the herald of Lord Rama. And the one who in anger grew so tall that he set Ravana's Lanka ablaze. Who has quelled countless Asuras and demons, and made Lord Rama's quest successful.
The one who revived Lakshman with Sanjeevni, the life giving herb, and the one who was embraced by Lord Rama in joy, and called a brother akin to Bharat.

जिन का यश गान लोग हर्ष से करते हैं, और कवि जिन के गीतों को अपने कंठों से लगाते हैं। सनक, सनातन, सनंदन, सनत्कुमार, आदि मुनिवर, ब्रह्म एवं नारद आदि देवतागण, और माँ सरस्वती और शेषनाग भी जिन का गुणगान करते हैं।
यमराज, कुबेर, और चारों दिशाओं के द्वारपाल, और बड़े-बड़े कवि और विद्वान मिलकर भी जिन के यश का पूर्णतः वर्णन नहीं कर पाते हैं। जिन्होंने सुग्रीव पर उपकार किया, और भगवान राम से भेंट करवा कर उन्हें बाली से उनका राज-पाट दिलवाया।

Who is praised ecstatically by his devotees, and whose ballads are worn like garlands by bards and poets. The one whose glory cannot be elucidated by sages like Sanak, Sanatan, Sanandan, Sanatkumar, and Narada, whom even gods and goddesses like Brahma and Saraswati hail as pious and virtuous.
The one whose greatness cannot be put in words, even by the most skilled orators, including, Yama, Kubera, and the gatekeepers of all dimensions.
The one who favored Sugreev and brought him to Lord Rama, and helped him reclaim his Kingdom.

The one who as a child, confused the Sun, which is at a great distance from the Earth, with a great apple, and swallowed it whole. Then what is the surprise he jumps across the ocean to deliver Lord Rama's ring to Sita ji. Every arduous task becomes easy, when you pray to him.

वह जो राम के द्वार के रक्षक हैं, जिन की आज्ञा के बिना किसी को प्रवेश नहीं मिलता (अर्थात् जिसकी प्रसन्नता के बिना राम कृपा दुर्लभ है)। जिन की शरण में आकर सब सुख प्राप्त करते हैं, जो अगर रक्षा करे तो सब भय समाप्त हो जाते हैं।

Invoking whose name relieves all ailments and pain. And who protects those who follow his principles in comprehension (of mind), vocation (of life), and articulation (of speech).
Even the most pious and majestic of kings, Lord Rama, also relies on his service and feats. If he, bestows his favor on you, it shall be akin to attaining the essence of life.

Who has the boon of granting Ashta Siddhis (Anima, Mahima, Garima, Laghima, Prapti, Prakamya, Ishitva, and Vashitva) and Nine Nidhis (Padma, Mahapadma, Neel, Mukunda, Nanda, Makara, Kashyap, Shankh, Kharva). Who wields the cure-all power of Rama Bhakti, and is the most faithful servant of Lord Rama.

जिन के नाम का भजन श्री राम को प्राप्त होता है, और जो जन्म-जन्म के दुःख भी दूर कर देते हैं। जो अंत समय भी श्री राम धाम को ही जाते हैं, और पुनर्जन्म में भी राम के ही भक्त कहलाते हैं।
जिन को याद करने के बाद, दूसरे देवताओं का स्मरण करने की आवश्यकता ही नहीं रहती, ऐसे बलवीर हनुमान जी का स्मरण करने वाले के सब संकट कट जाते हैं और पीड़ा समाप्त हो जाती है।
Meaning in English
Praying to whom is like praying to Lord Rama himself, and whose prayers take away hardships for several life times. Who serves Lord Rama till the end and is called Rama's vassal even in his rebirth.
The one who entreats and remembers the great Hanuman, need not worship other divine beings (Devas), and will have all their troubles and pains, ended.

हम भी, ऐसे गायों के रक्षक, हनुमान देव की जय करते हैं, आप मुझ पर मेरे कृपालु गुरुदेव समान कृपा कीजिए। जो एक सौ बार आप की जय का पाठ करेगा, वह सब बंदिशों से मुक्त हो सुखी हो जाएगा।
और जो भगवान शंकर के लिखवाए इस हनुमान चालीसा को पढ़ेगा, उसे निश्चय ही सफलता प्राप्त होगी, और इसके साक्षी स्वयं गौरी-शंकर होंगे। हे नाथ हनुमान जी! यह तुलसीदास सदा ही श्री राम का दास है, इसलिए आप भी उस के हृदय में निवास कीजिए।
